There are currently no barriers to web design from the technical point of view. All of the major word processors can save documents as web pages. There are website editors available on the Web free of charge. Anyone can make their own website - which is obvious when you look at these websites!

Just being able to work with website-authoring tools just isn't enough if you want a decent website. Good websites have the following characteristics:
  • Appropriate representation of the company
  • Easy and quick access to all the information available
  • Corporate design implementation that reaches the target group effectively
  • A website navigation system that the visitor would expect
  • Technologies that can be run on any computer without specialised software
  • The ability to leave the (potential) customer with the impression intended
This involves two disciplines that have to be mastered - technology and design.
